Bonaire is among the top 25 favorite islands in the Caribbean, including Bermuda and the Bahamas. Our island earned an 18th spot. The top 25 is compiled as a result of a survey of readers of the American travel magazine Travel & Leisure.

Every year the readers of Travel & Leisure are asked about their travel experiences. Readers can give their opinions on the best hotels, resorts, islands, cruise ships, spas and airlines, among others. Readers could vote from October 2022 to February this year for Travel & Leisure's World's Best Awards.

In the Favorite Islands in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Bahamas categories, the islands were judged on multiple components. These included natural attractions, beaches, activities and sightseeing. Restaurants and food for each island were also rated. In addition, how friendly the residents of the islands are also weighed in. For all these characteristics, readers of the magazine were able to give a rating.

Dominica in first place

The island of Dominica won the election, followed by Anguilla in second place and St. John: U.S. Virgin Islands in third. Bonaire finished in 18th place of the top 25 with a score of 84.75. Our island was praised by one reader for its "excellent diving and snorkeling, restaurants and friendly people. Bonaire thus left such well-known islands as St. Maarten, Barbados, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands behind. Neighboring island Aruba finished 9th in the list.
